Tuesday Truths - Love over Hate

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Hate multiplies hate in a descending spiral of violence. Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” What type of emotion comes over you when someone wrongs you? Do you feel compelled to get even or seek revenge? If so, this is not what Jesus calls us to do.

Tuesday Truth - Numbers 6:24-26

“The LORD bless you and keep you, the LORD make HIS face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The LORD turn HIS face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)

Tuesday Truths - Gain, Don't Maintain

“If you aren’t getting better, you’re getting worse.” Have you ever heard this saying? While it may not hold true for every situation, it definitely applies to spending time with Jesus and reading the Word. It can be so easy to fall out of the routine of reading the Bible, praying, and spending time with God. However, if we aren’t doing this daily—or even multiple times a day—we risk losing that vital connection.

Tuesday Truth – Blessing in the Pruning

I’m not a great gardener; I usually kill plants much easier than manage to keep them alive. My track record with all things green is not good. However, my nieces are great at growing green things and also suggesting green things that will be easy enough for even me to keep alive. Bless them and their green thumbs.

Tuesday Truths - Stained Glass

I recently heard an interesting correlation of how our souls are like stained glass. We are broken shards of glass, from all the hurts and pains brought on by this sinful world. Healing is achieved by union with Jesus.

A woman and a child walk together down a dirt road surrounded by grass and trees, with the woman gently holding the child's shoulder.

Tuesday Truths - Actions Speak Louder Than Words

We never want to be hypocritical. Whether we like it or not, It can be easy to be hypocritical in our faith without even knowing it. We can talk the talk about how we go to church, how our kids are part of the youth group at church, how we believe in Jesus, etc. However, if we aren’t showing love to those around us and truly striving to grow closer to God, then the things we say are pretty meaningless.

Tuesday Truths - God-Breathed

Most of us have probably heard that the scripture, although written by around forty different people, is totally God-breathed and inspired. It’s important to trust and know that this is true. Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
